Okay Parents and Community:

As most of you are aware, for the 2011-2012 school year, Okay High School was placed on the State Department’s "Needs Improvement" list due to our low AYP score. The official term by the State is "Priority School". This is NOT a shutdown or takeover.

AYP stands for adequate yearly progress. This score is based on many factors that include our EOI (End of Instruction) Test scores, Attendance, and Graduation Rate. This is the first time that Okay High School has been placed on this list, and we are working very hard to get off the list. Okay High School is in the process of partnering with the Oklahoma State Department of Education to help us overcome our low AYP score, from the 2010-2011 school year. Many details of this partnership have not been determined but should be within the next couple of weeks. At that time, we will hold a community meeting to discuss the details of this partnership.

As parents and community members, you can help our school by making sure that your child comes to school every day and is on time (tardies hurt too!). We also need to make sure that every child takes the EOI tests seriously and does his or her best. The EOI Test scores are part of a student’s permanent record, and students must pass them in order to graduate.

We will keep you informed as new details arise. We will be posting a lot of information on the school website, including the exact test dates, so that you, as parents, will be aware of what is happening. The school website is
